As of May 9th 2020, in Greece the total number of the Covid-19 patients is 2,710 and the total number of deaths 151 people.
At the moment 28 patients are in IC units and up to now, 97.384 tests have been analyzed .
Below is a timeline of key events related to Covid-19
*On February 26th, the first COVID-19 case was diagnosed in Greece.
*On March 10th, with officially 89 cases and 0 deaths, all schools and universities across the country were closed.
*On March 12th, movie theaters, gyms and courthouses were closed.
*On March 13th, with 190 confirmed cases and 1 death, malls, cafés, restaurants, bars, beauty studios, museums and archaeological sites were closed.
*On March 23rd, with 695 confirmed cases and 17 deaths, a nation-wide restriction of movement is enforced. Citizens can leave their house only for specific reasons and with a special permit.
* April 15th , the Greek Civil Aviation Authority issued a statement regarding the extension of the temporary suspension of flights until May 15 to/from specific countries ( Italy, Spain, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and Germany ), where travel bans were already in force since the start of the outbreak Flights to and from Germany from Athens International Airport (ATH) will be exempt from the ban, as will cargo, humanitarian, and repatriation flights. Additionally, an entry ban on non-European Union (EU) citizens into Greece has been extended until May 15, with some exceptions.
*On May 4th , after 42 days of full lockdown the gradual lift of the lockdown measures is in place (including free circulation for citizens within their prefecture and opening of some businesses such as bookstores, electronic shops, small retail shops, hairdressers. Bigger stores like malls, restaurants, and cafes will reopen on June 1, with strict social distancing rules.
*On May 18th the open-air archaeological sites will be again open to the public . The specific regulations and measures will be announced in the coming days after the assessment of all data by the experts, who are also expected to decide on the special measures that will apply with regards to organization of festivals, events and TV productions.
